A team from Bridges Christian Fellowship, Riverside, California, spent eight days at Mission of Hope: Haiti. We helped with fours days of Vacation Bible School, painted houses, cleared land with machetes, weeded and moved rocks around homes, played with children, visited the beach and more. At the mission, Casi, one of the interpreters, asked how he could get a copy of the book. Erica, one of the interns, gave him one. We may have opportunity to send more. Please pray with us about it.

Light Traveling around the World

Light Traveling around the World
The lantern book has made its way to Oregon, Florida, New Mexico, Italy, Spain, Colorado, Idaho, several locations in California, Georgia, Afghanistan, Thailand, Japan, Arizona and China. Soon  we will take a few copies to Haiti. Pray that God will be glorified with these simple attempts with words—let the Word of Life shine brightly into the hearts of others; the face of the Savior seen clearly.

A team from Bridges Christian Fellowship, Riverside, will be in flying out Friday, July 22 and returning on Sunday morning, July 31. Your prayyers are appreciated (and needed). We anticipate an amazing trip because we serve an amazing God.

The book is out!

The book is out!
In the Lantern's Light is in print (all 500 pages!).

As people purchase copies they will help make it possible for  us to send the book to missionaries, prisoners, single moms and others who may not have the means to buy one themselves.

Your continued prayer for the distribution of the book is greatly appreciated.

Celebrating Community
Posted by Charlie on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:05am
As completion of the project gets closer I want to share a recent piece that causes my heart to leap with joy when I think about so many who have joined be as prayer partners for In the Lantern's Light.

Saturday Morning

Coffee
butter lathered bagel
topped with boysenberry
Surrounded by friends
in folded pages
Mr. Stott, Mr. Chambers,
Michael Card,
Dr. Packer, Henri Nouwen,
Luci Shaw,
Mr. Moody, John Piper,
Lewis, Schaeffer,
Annie Johnson Flint,
Max Lucado, Ken Gire
and so many more
Outside overcast, chilly
Inside warm with the sun
shining bright;
the Son shining bright
I am a wealthy man
blessed with the comfort
of walls and water and electric stuff
My bank is full
of friends on the journey with me
genuine friends
So I stop and pray for them
and for others both
inside the borders of this great land
and for those living beyond the edges
Father,
provide friends and food and freedom
Bring comfort and hope and health
Let the Good News be
shouted and whispered and talked

An Invitation...

An Invitation...

About once a week I write a few words of and send them out via email with the subject line reading:  BOOKMARK2010—Title Here.  If you would like to be added to the mailing list send me your email address. Here's a recent offering:

Global Warming

it started over two thousand
years ago
Bethlehem
Joseph, Mary
a baby
wrapped in strips of cloth
swaddling clothes
warm
bound by a mother’s care

winter’s fallen foolishness
touched by
the invasion of heaven
with the
warmth of salvation
to all who will believe

released from eternity’s arm
freely offered
to all the time bound
global warming
chasing death’s chill
beyond the grave
